Hickman Motors Burin Supports the local School Breakfast Program
For the past number of years, Hickman Motors in Burin has supported and donated to the local School Breakfast Programs, and this year they continue to do so with another donation of $200 to the newly started program at Pearce Junior High School for kids in Grades 8 & 9. The Breakfast program is also sponsored by the Kids Eat Smart Program, and because of this, any monies donated locally, are equally matched by Kids Eat Smart, so the $200 becomes $400!
Mr. Chris Kenway of Hickman Motors recently presented this donation to Mr. Gregory Farrell, Principle of Pearce Junior High.
Supporting Children's Playground Construction in our Communities
For the past number of years, the Hickman organization has supported and provided the funds to construct Children's Playgrounds in our communities as part of the Saturn Playgrounds for Kids program.
We are no longer affiliated with the Saturn program, but our new division, Hickman Chrysler Dodge Jeep, is continuing the tradition and has partnered with Beachy Cove Elementary School in Portugal Cove and with the YMCA to Build and support Children's Playgrounds.
For the Beachy Cove Elementary School, Hickman Chrysler Dodge Jeep will match dollar-for-dollar (up to $25,000) toward the construction of a new Playground at that facility.
In partnering with the YMCA, the Hickman Group will contribute $25,000 per year for the next 4 years, ( a total of $100,000) to develop and maintain their Playground facilities.
The Hickman Chrysler Team have set up a special committee to oversee these efforts and we would like to sincerely thank the Committee Members - Roger Howell, Sean Ryan, Dave Dawe, Glen Pinsent, and Barb Longphee for their time and efforts in seeing these projects to completion in the coming months.
